Chinese-made Huawei tower could breach US nuclear arsenal, hints FBI probe

The Federal Investigation Bureau has discovered Chinese Huawei equipment at the cell tower near the US military base in Midwest, CNN reported.

The Federal Investigation Agency said that the equipment was able to capture and disrupt the very limited communication of the US Department of Defense which included US strategic commands that oversee nuclear weapons.

It is believed that the origin of this Huawei equipment came from the Obama government. It is unclear whether intelligence officials determine whether there is sensitive data that is intercepted and sent back to Beijing from this Huawei Tower. The source told the website that technically it was difficult to prove that the data package given was stolen and sent abroad.

The Chinese government has denied the accusation of espionage on American land. Huawei also denied that this tower was able to operate in any spectrum allocated for the US Department of Defense, CNN reported.

But intelligence officials say that there is no question that the tower is able to intercept not only commercial cellular traffic but also limited air waves used by the military and disrupt critical US strategic communication, thus giving potential beijing into the Washington DC nuclear arsenal.

A former FBI official said that the tower could affect the US’s ability to govern and control with a nuclear triad, CNN reported.

Probe FBI is very confidential so that some senior policy makers in the White House and the government were not given direction until 2019. That year, US communication regulators have initiated rules that effectively prohibit small telecommunications companies using Huawei and other Chinese equipment brands.

In 2020, the US Congress approved $ 1.9 billion to remove Huawei and ZTE cell technology based in China in all parts of the country’s countryside. But the equipment has not been released even after two years.
