Indian national arrested in US over scam targeting senior citizens

US federal law enforcement officials have arrested a 24 -year -old Indian citizen in Virginia on charges of participating in the alleged national fraud targeting senior citizens.

The indictment replaces 12 calculations accusing the calcote with conspiracy and letter fraud. Also mentioned in the indictment was MD Azad, 25, an illegal Houston resident, who was originally charged in August 2020. He will reappear in court on new accusations in the near future.

The indictment accused the victims sometimes re-divided several times and threatened body damage if they did not pay.

After the sentence, both of them faced 20 years in the federal prison and the possibility of USD 250,000 fines.

The other three have claimed to be guilty about this scheme and are waiting for a sentence – Sumit Kumar Singh, 24, Himanshu Kumar, 24, and MD Hasib, 26. They are Indian citizens who illegally live in Houston.

According to the accusation, the ring deceived and cheated the victims using a variety of one -and instructed them to send money through wire through a money transmitter business such as Western Union or Moneygram, by buying a gift card and providing to fraudsters or by sending cash to the alias name via Fedex or UPS.

One of the schemes allegedly involved claims to provide computer technical support services. The indictment accused that the scheme generally worked because fraudsters contacted victims by telephone or through an internet site that directed them to certain telephone numbers, said Federal Prosecutor.

After the victims contacted them, they were told of various stories such as they communicated with an expert who needed long distance access to their computers to provide technical support services.

The fraudsters were then suspected of getting further access to personal and bank data and their credit card information, the Department of Justice said in a statement
