When the Taliban took over the capital of Afghanistan, Kabul, last year, the lives of many Afghan people were changed forever.

Girls are prohibited from going to school and women are prohibited from taking flights without being accompanied by relatives of men. Food insecurity is also an urgent problem. In March 2022, the UN Secretary General, António Guterres, promised international support in an effort to prevent the hunger crisis in Afghanistan.

Without immediate action, we faced the hunger crisis and malnutrition in Afghanistan,” Guterres said at a conference.

For Mojeburahman Musleh, a fast food restaurant owner in Kabul, the business stopped under the Taliban government. Sales in their establishment, Laziz are expensive, down 80% and Musleh struggles to pay the cost of running his business.

We cannot bear the costs that contain our shoulders every month, “Musleh said to insiders. These costs include taxes and rent, which must be paid even though there is no income, he added.

Like Musleh trying to keep his business survive, he said he was forced to close the restaurant forever this year.

According to Musleh, “At present, people are unable to eat outside the home.” While walking around Kabul, he said he had noticed a series of beggars begging a piece of bread, because the Taliban took control.

When Afghanistan was arrested by the Taliban, the withdrawal of the bank was very limited due to lack of paper money. Millions of Afghan citizens suffer financially.

Lack of food and vital supply cause further concern. Earlier this year, the United Nations said that nearly 9 million people were at risk of starvation and up to one million children could die from cold and starving weather conditions, and in December 2021, the world food program reported that 98% of Afghan people did not eat enough to be eaten.
