The men’s TV presenter in Afghanistan wore a face mask on the screen to show solidarity after the Taliban issued an order that all women on the news channel had to cover their faces.

In a protest nicknamed #freeherFace on social media, men in Tolo News wore masks to mimic the effects of the face of their female colleague’s veil had been forced to use after the crushing of the Taliban.

The Ministry of Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Representatives Taliban ordered all Afghan media outlets to use masks for female presenters. The decision was final and there was no room for debate, he said.

Sebghat Sepehr presented the news wearing a mask shortly after the order was announced to the public.

This follows the decree released in early May that all women must cover their faces in public relatives and men facing fines or prisons if they are not attached. Many women in cities like Kabul, including TV presenters, opposed orders.

Lema specific, 27, news anchors for 1TV in Kabul, told The Guardian that he was given news about the latest Taliban decree at the time of work at work on Sunday morning. “Two Taliban members came to our office and said the decision about the mask mandatory for female anchors must be applied.

We held an office meeting and had to accept the Taliban orders, but decided that male colleagues also had to wear a mask and stand near female colleagues.”

For nine months the Taliban ruled the presenter was also forced to exchange his favorite colorful clothes with a long dress, and was disappointed and surprised by the latest blows. “I can’t breathe. I can’t get oxygen,” he said. “We need to say words accurately. It is very difficult to read the news with a mask.”

A 29-year-old anchor on a private television channel, who did not want to be named because of security issues, told The Guardian that he and other male colleagues had been wearing masks to work in the last two days. When the Taliban orders reach their office, he said, female colleagues were clearly desperate. “The appearance while wearing a mask is very annoying,” he said. “When I performed with a mask, I felt someone had grabbed my throat and I couldn’t speak.”
