2 dead in blasts at Kabul Gurdwara, IS links suspected; MEA monitoring situation

Gurdwara Karte Parwan in Kabul, Afghanistan, has been attacked by terrorists. Several explosions were reported at the Gurdwara Sahib place. Isis Khorasan is thought to be behind the attack. The attack began at 7:15 in the morning Kabul time (8.30 in the morning of Indian time). A 60 -year -old man, who was identified as Sawinder Singh and guards of Gurudwara, was killed while three Taliban soldiers were injured in the incident. Two attackers were cornered by the Taliban soldier. At least 7-8 people are still believed to be trapped inside, but the amount is not confirmed.

According to reports, 25-30 Hindus Afghan and Sikh were present in Gurudwara for morning prayers and when the attackers entered the place, 10-15 managed to escape. The rest are stuck inside or feared to die.

BJP MLA Manjinder Singh said, “Speaking with Gurnam Singh, President Gurdwara Karte Parwan. He requested global support for Sikh in Afghanistan.”

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MEA), in a statement about the incident, said, “We are very concerned about reports originating from Kabul about the attack on the sacred gurudwara in the city. We are monitoring the situation and waiting carefully for more details continued about the ongoing development. “

Minister of External Affairs Dr. S Jaisankar also condemned the attack and said the government monitored the situation.

The former captain of Punjab CM Amarinder Singh also urged the MEA to see the incident. He said, “It is very concerned to hear about the news about the attack on Gurdwara Sahib in Kabul, Afghanistan. Pray to the Waheguru JI for the safety of all worshipers & citizens who are trapped in that place. Urge MEA to see this problem & make sure the safety of all people.”

Puneet Singh Chandhok, Head of the Indian World Forum, said that an unknown armed striker entered Gurdwara today. “I just talked to Gurnam Singh, President Gurdwara Karte Parwan. He cried.” According to Puneet, the militants belonging to ISIS.

Puneet has asked the Indian government to immediately repatriate the Afghan minority from there without further delay. “They have been waiting for e-visas for the past six months,” he said.
