Afghanistan: Taliban PM urges international recognition for government

Read Time:1 Minute, 42 Second

The Taliban leader and Afghan Prime Minister Mohammad Hassan Akhund asked the international community to recognize the Taliban government during a press conference in Kabul on Wednesday.

Broadcast is its first main performance since assuming the role in September and came as a conservative administrative government of hardline with an faltering economy and continued violence with other militant groups.

“I asked all governments, especially Islamic countries, that they must start recognition,” Akhund – which is one of the founders of Taliban – said at the conference.

No foreign government has not recognized the Taliban as a legitimate Afghan ruler, although some have taken steps to normalize relationships.

Taliban seeks development funds

Taliban blamed the current economic crisis at the freezing of US dollars of Afghan funds by Western countries led by the United States.

Development assistance, which ever formed the basic economy of Central Asian countries, has also been cut off.

International assistance is still entering the state to help fight the ongoing humanitarian crisis, but the government is vigilant to support the Taliban regime by providing necessary support.

Western countries are still waiting to see if the Taliban fulfill their promise not to repeat some of the extreme brutal he did during the group’s last task between 1996 and 2001. Women’s rights and human rights generally were at the top of the event schedule.

“Short-term assistance is not a solution; we must try to find a way to solve the problem basically,” said Akhund.

Economic and hard winters have dropped millions of Afghans into poverty.

“We don’t want anyone help. We don’t want it for officials. We want it to our public,” said Prime Minister acting.

“I call Muslim countries to lead and recognize us officially. So I hope we will be able to develop quickly,” he added.

The Taliban seized power in August, following the withdrawal of most international forces. The seizure triggered the remaining departure of the remaining US forces and the evacuation of tens of thousands of Afghans who tried to escape from the harsh and hard Taliban government.
